According to the Spanish Meteorological Agency (AEMET), the resort receives only 100–150 mm of rainfall per year, almost all between November and February. Showers are brief and often leave behind crisp air and dramatic post-rain light that photographers love.
Because the resort lies in the rain shadow of Mount Teide, the southern coast stays exceptionally dry. From April to September, it’s common to go for weeks without a single drop of rain.
The northeast trade winds, which dominate the Canary Islands’ climate, are key to its pleasant weather.
