DSC-WX500 Reviews from Canary Island Travelers

“I wanted an affordable camera that is small and easy to carry around and has a long optical zoom. The WX500 fits the bill and, more importantly, can deliver beautiful photos. I also appreciate being able to transfer pictures and videos to my phone using the Sony Playmobile app. That makes it easy for me to share on Facebook and Instagram. Imagine how many of my friends were envious upon seeing our Canary vacation moments?”

Bill C.

“I have had this camera for several months already, and it has been excellent. The optical zoom has served me well, and I have taken lots of photos of my girlfriend with the depth of field effects. By no means am I a techie or pro, but the auto mode has delivered stunning images as if professional photographers took them with those huge, expensive cameras. In our trip to the Canaries, I especially love its ability to transfer photos wirelessly, which I do after returning to the hotel.”

DSC-HX90V Reviews from Canary Island Travelers

“The one thing I love about this camera is the GPS. Sure, it takes great photos and videos – that much I know after reading many of the reviews scattered around the net. The GPS, however, came as a pleasant surprise for me. I must have missed that while reading the product description. Anyway, it is so much fun looking at the photos, reminiscing the good times in Tenerife and Lanzarote (that’s where we had our vacation), and knowing where those moments were taken.”

– Jackie Q.

“First of all, I don’t think you can attach an external flash. Having said that, the large sensor in HX90V can capture more light than the older camera I owned. And so, even in dimly lit areas, such as within the trails of Teide National Park, I have had no issues whatsoever with the quality of the photos taken. In the evenings, the photos I took in some bars came up better than expected. Of course, out on the beaches during daytime – this camera delivers beautiful, high-quality shots.”

– Harley M.

DSC-HX95 Reviews from Canary Island Travelers

“I have used the HX60 for nearly four years until deciding to upgrade to the HX95. The old one had served me well. And so I do look forward to years of premium quality photos and videos with this newer camera I intend to carry around, especially during travels. In the Canaries, I had the chance to test its capabilities. It performed so well that I am delighted with this purchase. I do not need a tripod to take clear photos, thanks to the combination of Carl Zeiss lens and SteadyShot image stabilization, even when shooting close-ups at max optical zoom. Most of the time, I use auto mode, although it offers an extensive manual control. And oh, I took more than 400 shots and over 20 videos on one charge, too.”

– Dilton P.

“I wanted a small camera that I can take anywhere, and the HX95 made the most sense. The only bummer is that I missed the other model – HX99. But what the heck. It has proven to be an excellent travel companion that is convenient to carry around, even in Tenerife’s beaches. The pictures and 4K video were also amazingly clear.”

– Hannah V.

5. Sony DSC-HX99 Compact Digital with 4K Video and Touchpad

DSC-HX99 Reviews from Canary Island Travelers

“Until I had the HX99, taking night shots had been frustrating. Not with this new camera, though, and I have had excellent results in bars and the magnificent nightscape of La Palma. Of course, daytime shots were amazing, and I expected as much as older models have delivered that for years already.”

– Jacob Z.

“What can I say about the HX99 in the Canary Islands? Night shots were better than expected. The indoor photos were excellent. Outdoor shots under natural sunlight were the best. They could have shot by pros using an expensive DSLR and crazy exorbitant lens. But what do I really know? I merely turn on the camera and start shooting without so much as thinking about other settings.”

– Helene G.

Never Go to the Canaries Without One of These Sony Compacts

All the Sony WX and HX digital travel cameras have built-in NFC/Wi-Fi capability. DSC-HX99 is the most capable in this line-up, plus it also supports Bluetooth transfers. Such flexibility in connectivity lets you send photos and videos to other mobile devices, quickly and easily. It is much more expensive than the other models at this time. If that is an issue, then the HX95 would be a better choice.

For budget travel compact zooms, both the WX350 and WX500 are older models that may not match the HX series’ video recording capabilities. However, they sure are capable of capturing beautiful images.

Whichever models you end up choosing, one thing you can be sure of is that Sony is going to deliver photos as promised. And with that, you can bring back memories and savor those moments in the years to come.
